About Us:
In the Beginning:
The original idea for forming the Disabled Angling Association known as the DAA came from Richard Stringer and Denise Reynolds from the Kent DAA .
Over a period of a few weeks, hours were spent on the phone talking other organisations to see how they felt about the idea.
Everybody who was spoken to liked the idea, so the DAA was formed.
Below are the main body of the organisation BUT there will be a committee made up of people from other organisations, clubs and fisheries and it is that committee who decide who needs help and what needs doing, we feel that this way the DAA is not run or controlled by one person or a very select few.
Aims of the DAA:
- To unite clubs, associations and individual anglers who may feel that they are not given a voice within angling, whether disabled or able bodied.
- To inform and assist the whole of the angling industry to understand the needs and requirements of the disabled angler, including not just fisheries but also tackle shops, clubs and even tackle manufacturers.
- To give advice to anyone who needs it regarding access for the disabled and less able angler what ever part of the industry they represent.
- To liaise with both local and national associations and bodies with a view to advancing the understanding of the needs of disabled anglers.
- To encourage people who have suffered illness or accidents to get out of the house and back on the bank.
- To support disabled and less able anglers at club, local and national level.
- To help, advise and give support to fisheries.

(Secretary): Denise Reynolds I have been disabled since 2006 due to an accident at work and found that angling was a way to get me out and about. Together with my carer Richard we founded The KDAA and after looking for support found very little so with Nick, Richard and Rosemary started forming The Disabled Anglers Association to give support to all who are or want to be involved with getting disabled people on the bank fishing. |

(Treasurer): Claire Pearce I am a lady angler who has been fishing since I could walk, and now enjoy all kinds of fishing from carp to fly with the whole family. I am disabled and look after my disabled partner as a carer but we don't let that stop us at all and you will often see us both with my son by a lake somewhere. Before becoming a full time carer I have been an administration manager, sales person and a climbing instructor and I also do some admin for Reels On Wheels in between looking after my partner. |
